International Certification Course for Primary Healthcare Physicians in Noncommunicable Diseases

The rising prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) worldwide represents a global epidemic. The importance of NCDs in global health is acknowledged by their inclusion in the Sustainable Development Goals, which call for a reduction of a third in premature mortality from NCDs by 2030. These NCDs require long-term care that is proactive, patient centered, community based and sustainable. Such care can be delivered equitably only through health systems based on primary health care (PHC).

Estimates suggest that almost 52% of all conditions can be managed at the primary care level. World Noncommunicable Disease Federation has published evidence-based, operational guidelines developed by experts from various national and international organizations and are explained under the heads of prevention, surveillance, and management. These guidelines will serve as a basic tool for the practicing physician and Community health workers at every level of healthcare to deliver quality NCD prevention and care.

To address this huge capacity gap of the primary health care professionals, this International Course as “Certification of primary health physician in Noncommunicable diseases” has been initiated which focusses on meeting the requirements of Global NCD Agenda under Global strategy for prevention and control of NCDs along. This will strengthen the global workforce’s ability in prevention, control and management of NCDs.
